Thoughtful Wine Tasting.

Here you can find more ways to flex your sensory skills throughout your alternative wine learning journey, or in tandem with WSET courses.

Everyone is always saying that the best way to get to know more wines is to start tasting wine — tasting widely and regularly.

You may have been to some classroom style courses and want to keep engaged. Maybe you’re new to working in wine or you’d like to sharpen your dinner party blind tasting skills, or maybe you’re looking for new ways to meet producers: this is the spot for you.

Tasting Workshops

Regularity is the name of the game here..These are part tutored sessions, part sommelier-esque tasting group. Here you’ll practice putting names to sensations and discussing the structure of a wine with confidence.

If want to keep perfecting those tasting skills between WSET courses or join an organized tasting group with guidance from us, look here.

Headliners at This is Wine School.

The rockstars of the wine world are visiting and you’re invited! These are one-hour interview-style classes led by a winemaker and one of our educators, followed by a casual wine-bar set up and the opportunity to taste more examples from their line up!

All classes are held at 265 E Pender in Vancouver, Chinatown

We acknowledge that the City of Vancouver and our business are both located on the shared, unceded, and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

As settlers, we aim to honour the traditional custodians of this land and to learn from their teachings, whilst attempting to undo some of the damage within ours. We recognize agriculture, wine, education, and the many realms in which we operate are historically exclusionary, white, and euro-centric. We strive and work to make our classroom one that de-centers this notion and moves forward in a more inclusive future.
